World Down Syndrome Day Celebrations!

Kids Count thrives on the belief that "Every child has the right to reach their full potential".

Within our centre we have tamariki who have unique qualities that can be seen in their personalities, their features and abilities.

One particular child is a little boy that lives life to the fullest. This little super hero named JR has Down Syndrome but regardless of this he gives everything a go and has the biggest smile with the most contagious laugh. Regardless of the extra chromosome he has been gifted with, he is no different in our centre.

On March the 21st, people around the world celebrated World Down Syndrome Day where they showcase awareness and advocating the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down syndrome. Our centre decided to 'get on board' with this 'super awesome' initiative and hosted a blue and yellow day in support of our little friend and many of those around the world. We had lots of fun dancing to music, face painting and blowing up balloons, exploring the colours yellow and blue through playdough and paint.

It was awesome to see staff and tamariki dress up for the occasion and celebrate this day with our super hero, JR.
