It is great to be able to go on trips again now that we have moved down to Level 1. Whaea Reawyn had organized for the tamariki to visit the Rolleson Community Garden in Papakura, as well as the Papakura Museum. Both of these trips were linked to our Matariki celebration. In the community garden the tamariki learned about growing and harvesting fruit and vegetables, after which we had our Friendship Fruit salad at kindy. The Papakura museum had a display which linked to Matariki as well, which the tamariki went to see. Earlier this year, we visited the Papakura Art Gallery and they have agreed to display our Matariki artwork in their window, but due to Covid-19, they have not yet reopened. However, the curator, Whaea Annie, came to visit our kindy and informed us that our tamariki artwork will be published on their website instead, so please have a look at the beautiful artwork they have created. It is great to be back in the community and we look forward to taking many more trips in the near future.
