Nga Teina for March 2017

During the month we had a fantastic nature walk looking for spiders and their webs! We found many webs with flies and other insects caught in them but the spiders seemed to have gone.

We also found many cicada shells, some children were brave enough to hold them while others just looked at them from afar.

Some children also got to visit the pet shop to buy fish, snails and weed for our tank. The children love to sit and watch the fish swimming around their tank.

Throughout the month the children showed a keen interest in learning about spiders so we did various activities relating to the life cycle of the spider, spider webs, clay spiders, cutting spider pictures and colouring spiders.

Face painting was another highlight of the month, with many versions of spiders and Spider-Man running around. Incy wincy spider was a favourite for the children, requesting to see in on the computer often.

Another developing interest is water play, getting the children into a lot of sensory play, conserving water, water safety, uses of water and much more. We will follow though into next month with this along side Easter!
