Kids Count Tawa

Justin Toru

Here in Kids Count Tawa we celebrated National New Zealand Sea week. The theme for the week was "Toiora te Moana, Toiora te Tangata" which basically stands for "Healthy Sea, Healthy people".During this week, our Tamariki/Children got involved in activities and songs around Tangaroa me ana Tamariki/ Tangaroa and his children. In Maori culture Tangaroa - god of the sea, and his children being the sea creatures within him.The whole experience was fun and enjoyable for our Tamariki/ children, their Whanau/ family, and us nga Kaiako/ Teachers. We learnt that to have a Healthy sea, and Healthy people? We need to respect and look after our sea by not polluting the water, and not to take too much of the kai Moana/sea food and preserve it for our future generation.
