Today, 13 November 2020, we ended our Diwali program with a big celebration. For the past 2 weeks, tamariki have been learning about Diwali and doing amazing artwork in their rooms. The Kaiako decorated their rooms and showed tamariki how to make rangoli and diya's. One day Whaea Romita made yummy kai for tamariki and taught them how to make lado. Henna designs were drawn on tamariki by Kaiako and every day tamariki got together to watch Diwali stories and practice their dance moves. On our celebration day, Whaea Ritu and Risha (Whaea Romita's daughter) entertained us with their lovely dancing, after which Kaiako and tamariki joined in and had so much fun. The kaiako all dressed up and everyone looked beautiful. Our Indian whanau also made yummy lunch for the teachers and tamariki which was enjoyed by everyone. We also invited some Kaiako from NZMA to our Diwali celebration and it was lovely to welcome them to the Centre. Wow, what an awesome Diwali 2020 we had!
