Welcome to Kids Count Pukekohe.
We are a Kiwi-owned family of childcare centres established to ensure that each and every child attending our centres can reach their potential, no matter what their family circumstances.
We believe Education is critical to future happiness and success. It starts in the home and is supported by children attending a preschool centre. We understand that it's not always easy to ensure your child is able to attend preschool, so we have made it as easy for you as possible.
To start with (at no cost to you), we will collect and drop off our Tamariki every weekday in our sign-written vans. (Kids Count Vans). Once children arrive at a Kids Count Centre, tamariki are offered nutritious fulfilling meals which are provided by our Centre cook. Breakfast, morning tea, lunch afternoon tea and snacks throughout the day are offered as we believe by providing our Tamariki with these meals they have a full puku and are generally more focused and settled in their learning environment.
We keep our fees as low as possible. All children over 3 are entitled to at least 20 hours of free care per week, and this includes access to all our services. When fees do apply, they are set according to the Work and Income Childcare Subsidy. We are committed to working with families to ensure our centres are accessible to everyone and that issues of payment of fees do not compromise your child's future. There is always a solution to this matter. Don't be embarrassed or shy — you are not alone.
At Kids Count Pukekohe we provide a transition to school program so that our tamariki can feel excited about their learning journey and next steps after graduating, leaving our centres to attend "big" school. These programs support children and focus on each child's individual learning journey. To ensure their learning and development supports many learning skills they need to be confident and competent learners as they transition through our Kids Count Centre off to "big" school.
Here at Kids Count Pukekohe we provide ongoing educational programmes such as Kapa Haka, cultural events that celebrate our heritage and provide our children and whanau with a strong sense of belonging throughout their learning environment. We have a fun educational learning programme for our small farm on site which includes a miniature horse, chickens, goat and sheep. This is an amasing and exciting opportunity for our children to build/ gain knowledge and experience with animals, not to mention an understanding of how to care, nurture and develop a bond of love for animals.
We believe physical development and confidence is a key part of a child's development, here at Kids Count Pukekohe we provide swimming lessons (in an indoor heated pool) for children over 4 (At no cost to whanau). We offer an exciting swimming programme by trained instructors in our centres.
For parents, Kids Count offers community partnerships through our Family Liaison Services, which connects families with advocacy and support services, budgeting assistance, WINZ, Salvation Army and counselling to help overcome any barriers they face. We also run free parenting sessions and community groups. We know that by supporting parents, we are helping our tamariki thrive. Parents are the foundation of a child's journey, and we'd love to partner with you to help your little one grow.
Kids Count was founded in 2009 by Mary McLeod, who wanted to create a program that removed barriers so ALL CHILDREN could get a great start in life. Kids Count continues to expand the benefits of an early childhood education to all our children and their whanau.Give us a call today to learn more about what we can offer your whanau! You have nothing to lose and you and your children have a great deal to gain!
