The kaiako and tamariki at Marne Road recently celebrated Samoan Language Week at the Centre. The children took part in Tapa art activities in FFS and learned how to write their numbers in Samoan in the Hi-5's room. Matua Viliamu came to tell some Samoan stories to the tamariki and Whaea Yashmin demonstrated to the Rising Stars how to crack open a coconut and showed them what it looked like inside. Whaea Annette painted Samoan flags on the children's cheeks and the FFJ dressed up and explored some traditional Samoan dances. The teachers all dressed up on the Friday and celebrated the Samoan culture with some yummy Taro, cooked in coconut milk. We had an awesome Samoan Language Week!
