This week we have been celebrating Maori Language Week at Marne Road.
The Kaiako and tamariki have been learning all about the Maori language, traditions and customs and made amazing artwork. Each room has been making poi and raakau for tamariki to use and explore and Whaea Param made beautiful piupiu skirts for the babies room.
We ended off the week with a cultural day where Whaea Raewyn and Whaea Shirley cooked kai for tamariki, Matua Don shared his musical talent with us and Whaea Sheree played some waiata with tamariki on the playground. Kereama and Caela did the haka together in babies room and they made Tipare with natural Rauemi with Whaea Pooja. Hi-5's made Manu-tukutuku (kites) with Whaea Raewyn and got their Moko Kauae and Moko Kanohi May AOTA done.
We had a really awesome week and look forward to next year's Maori Language Week.
